Panza Del Artista - B & B In Cusco :

Weather:
August is the end of tourist season in the Cusco area and the beginning of the wet season in the jungle. While in Cusco, daytime temperatures will hover around 65 F and night-times significantly cooler around 35 F. The air is thin and daytime sun can feel hotter than it really is, but sunscreen or light protective clothing is essential for the altitude provokes deceptive conditions – we are at 11,000 feet above sea level.
Bringing layers for the mornings, being able to take them off around mid-day and then placing them all back on towards late afternoon is the way to go. Thermal underwear, sweaters or fleece, and hats are also important if walking around at night. I encourage layers as the day starts off warm and then around 4pm things get cold (not cool, but cold) very quickly! Additionally, it could start raining at a moment's notice. Temperatures in The Sacred Valley towards Machu Picchu tend to be milder and exceptional. None of this is guaranteed as we are in the mountains and it is quite unpredictable.
Puerto Maldonado and the Peruvian Amazon are at 400 feet above sea level – quite a different climate for a 25 minute flight! Hot, humid and rich, the air is alive with the smells of the jungle and the sounds of nature. Light cotton with sleeves is the way to go here, helping to avoid bug bites and sun burn. Afternoon showers are quite possible and usually feel great. As these are not key photographic times, we won’t have too much too worry about. Regardless, protective covers for our gear are recommended.
